Software Engineer (m/f/d)
Remote in Germany

Engineering in Europe doesn’t need more demos. It needs systems that scale. While many copilots are layered on top of existing tools, we’re building an AI platform that rethinks engineering processes from the ground up—across tools, context-aware, and agent-orchestrated. As a software engineer at wailand, you won’t build isolated features. You’ll build production-grade systems that automate real industrial workflows—from integration layers and data pipelines to agent-based automation. If you’re excited to build robust software for real industrial complexity—not for click metrics—this is your role.
Your mission
You build key components of our AI platform—from APIs and services to agent-based orchestration.
You implement integrations with engineering systems (e.g., CAD, PLM, requirements, simulation) via REST, gRPC, or event-based interfaces.
You build scalable backend services (e.g., TypeScript/Node.js or Python/FastAPI) and ensure clean, maintainable architecture.
You develop data pipelines and models for structured and unstructured data (e.g., PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, vector stores).
You implement LLM workflows (RAG, tool calling, agent orchestration) and bring them to production-grade systems.
You work with containerization and deployment (Docker, Kubernetes) and think infrastructure and code together.
You ensure your systems are observable, testable, and scalable (logging, metrics, CI/CD).
You actively contribute to architectural and technology decisions—not just in tickets.
What you bring
Several years of experience building modern backend systems—production-grade, not just prototypes.
Strong skills in at least one relevant language (e.g., Kotlin, Java, or Python).
Experience with API design, microservices, event-driven architectures, or distributed systems.
Solid understanding of data architectures (relational databases, streaming, vector databases, persistence concepts).
Ideally, hands-on experience with LLM integration, RAG, embeddings, or ML pipelines.
Experience with Docker, CI/CD, and cloud environments (e.g., Azure, GCP, or AWS).
You write clear, maintainable code and think critically about technical decisions.
You look for the best solution—pragmatic, clear, and without overengineering.
You want to build systems that last.
If you don’t just want to work tickets but want to help shape the platform—and build robust systems that improve real engineering processes—then we should talk.
Email us at career@wailand.io. No cover-letter clichés—just tell us what you’ve built and why you want to build this platform with us.
We believe diverse teams make better decisions and build stronger systems. That’s why we welcome people with different perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences. What matters to us is competence, ownership, and attitude—regardless of gender, origin, religion, sexual identity, age, or disability.
